John, there is a much larger nick on the side of the slider for the throttle stop screw. The one I mentioned is tiny.

Diesel, do you mean the gasket between carb and manifold, or between manifold and cylinder head?

If it is the former, the townmate has a half-inch thick wedge of plastic which sits between manifold and carb, with a large o-ring sat either side of it. I could try to renew the o-rings.

I have no idea what sort of gasket is between the manifold and the cylinder head, but I'll check it next time I have the thing in bits, and renew if possible.
