Hello again,

Thanks everyone so much for replying so quickly.

I have had the carb apart and cleaned a few times, each time because "I must have missed something last time".

A quick description of the carb:
- It has two jets, a big one and a small one behind it.
- The throttle is a cylindrical slider with a needle on the bottom that pokes down towards the big jet.
- The slide has a small nick out of the bottom of it, which appears to match up with the small jet, to prevent the slide completely blocking it when down.
- The choke is a standard butterfly job on the forward end of the carb. It works perfectly.

I found an explody diagram on the old Townmate forum, here: http://members.boardhost.com/townmates/msg/1299343619.html

As my jets are clean and my choke functioning, this air leak business seems to be the next thing to look at. Does anyone have any pointers as to which of the carb's many gaskets and seals could be culprit for such symptoms?

Again, many thanks,
Matt
