When I stripped and cleaned the carb for you Ian, I also dug another one out and stripped and cleaned that. I found the pilot jet blocked on this one.
As an aside...
I also helped a guy out in Manchester a couple of years back who said he had stripped and cleaned his carb. He also said it would not tick over or run properly. His pilot jet was blocked as well and the carb was proper grubby inside.
When I took it back to him and fitted it, it started first kick and ticked over really sweet.
He had the cheek to tell me that's how it ran before I'd taken it away and cleaned it. Bollocks pal.
I don't remember getting a thank you!
