just to add I`ve not been done by a stationery (bright yellow) speed camera. If you can`t see one of them then you deserve to be done 
my last one was a sneaky hand held manned by 3 (yes THREE !) coppers
having said that I can take you to at least half a dozen stationery speed camera`s that are pure money makers. Local ones so I know about accidents (I`ve lived here about 40 years) and most accidents are recorded in our local rag.
interesting statistics you`ve come up with there PeterR but don`t think they apply in Staffordshire. Maybe that`s why our views differ so vastly !
by the way I do no advocate speeding in built up areas
however the statement `speed kills` is total sh*te
many many aspects contribute to an accident/fatality. Speed is not always the cause. Lack of speed in certain circumstances can be equally as dangerous.
