Diesel - I checked at the roadside to see if it was snapped at the link - but got so covered in oil I gave up and placed it into the grass verge roadside for later examination (which reminds me, I need to go back to collect it for a propa' CSI-type examination).

What I did see, was that where the chain had separated the two plates on one end were wide apart in a V formation, and not parallel, almost as if the pin had not snapped - but been forcibly pulled through and out! Which leads me back to Boo and running the chain too tight - for my weight. That and the suggestion of the chain being old in combination.

It's all coming home to roost, doh!
