Cylinder heads and squish bands

The shorter stroke of 55.5mm means the resultant engine will be 137cc, which I have no problem with what so ever, so it's on with the build. The YX140 cylinder has arrived from Pit Bike Spares and came complete with all covers including an oil cooler take off plate, a top end gasket set, spark plug and cam sprocket. It also reassuringly has YX cast into, as I am quite sure there are plenty of copies, if Lifan engines are anything to go by. The most interesting thing the squish band area which is 55.2mm dia x 1.6mm deep by 3mm wide. This is really unusual in my experience, as ordinarily performance engines aim to keep the squish band thickness to a minimum without the piston actually hitting the head. From C50 all the way up to Lifan 125 heads, I have only ever seen the type of squish band area that simply tapers away to nothing. I even checked on Google images to see if mine had perhaps been incorrectly machined, but no, they are all like it. I guess YX know what they are doing. The pictures are of the YX140 head, and for comparison a Lifan 125 head.
