New engine for Scruff

Scruff has been running his 142cc primary clutch semi auto for a number of years, carrying Cheri and I plus our luggage wherever we have needed to go. The only failure we experienced was the main bearings, but as this occasionally happens to stock YX140's, I don't feel too bad about it. However all this reliability isn’t all it’s cracked up to be if your passion is tinkering, which mine is. So I have decided to build a new engine for Scruff, just so that I can try out a few ideas. This time however I am going to try to build a 140cc primary clutch semi auto using readily available off the shelf parts without any modification.
I thought I would post my progress so that you see the failures as well as the successes. I have a plan in my head, but whether the parts will be compatible is yet to be seen.
Scruffs current engine is 57mm bore x 55.5mm stroke, my plan is to build a 56mm bore x 57mm stroke engine which coincidently are the dimensions of a YX140 engine, which I intend using to my advantage.
I'll keep you posted.
Happy Tinkering
Neil
