Presumably your bank confirmed that no money had actually been taken out of your account. I had a call once, genuinely from the bank, to say that £600 had been withdrawn on it in HongKong. As I had used the card in Tesco Sevenoaks the day before they considered it suspicious! Anyway, they replaced my card and all was well. They do keep an eye on unusual patterns of expenditure but it's very worrying that these things can happen.
