It's the number on the back of your bank card, the official one. They cut me off each time I tried to get through to double check after the first time, it took me a bit of time to realise it was 'them' doing it. When I did I used my mobile to ring that same number to confirm it was a scam.
There were a few alarm bells going off in my head. Firstly he told me that someone had used my card (or a clone) to take £350 out at a cash machine, I have a £200 limit. Then when I phoned the number I didn't get the automated menu from the bank, I was put straight through to the "serious fraud team". It was all very plausible though, it would have been so easy to fall for it.
The police are onto it now. The 'courier' turned out to be a local cab office and Hub got a phone number and an address from the driver which we've passed on to the police.
