If you go onto Castrols website and click on
"the oil finder"....... which oil should I use?
All you have to do is enter your cars reg, and it will show you the primary recommended oil for your engine, with alternative grades listed at the bottom.
For mine it gives the recommended oil as Magnetec 5w-30 (fully synthetic).
With Magnetec 10w-40 (part synthetic) as an alternative.
As long as you use the correct grade, any decent oil will do.
But bear in mind that cheaper supermarket oils tend to have less additives and detergents in them, and so they need to be changed more frequently.
It also works for bikes as well.
