The big difference, as I understand it, is not regarding lubing properties, but rather the rate at which those properties break-down.......like-for-like, you can go a lot longer without changing fully-synthetic oil than semi-synthetic.

This factor lengthens the time/mileage before servicing intervals, and was/is a big attraction to the biggest buyers of new UK cars: the Fleet market.

Pays yer money and takes yer choice - but change the oil a tad more often if using semi-synthetic.
