Thanks for the replies. Yes there were a lot of cobbled roads in the 1930s so things shouldnt come loose on tarmac. The bike is very nice to ride with the angles and curved forks making it feel very relaxed. Found a Brooks B33 saddle for it on an old bike hung up for decoration in a cafe. Luckily the owner is a frind and cyclist herself so a swop for the knackered saddle that came with the bike was approved. Stripped this saddle down to clean the springs and there are over 40 components just to this saddle. One last question. The guides for the brake shoes which clamp around the fork and rear tubes. Any ideas on how to stop them slipping back around the tube once they are tightened up. Was thinking of making a couple of little squares of double sided emery paper and slipping these between the frame and clamp before tightening to provide some bite. Regards. Bob.
