Good boots - keep your feet warm, ex army winter boots of all kind are a cost-effective option. I find if my feet get cold, the rest soon follows. The little 'mycoal' type warmers works very well in this regard and are cheap.
My kip mat is an Exped downmat DLX7 - an insulated airbed - works a treat, but very expensive. Worth it for a decent night's kip all year round though, I think. Has been a godsend for me as I've always struggled to get comfortable in tents. Bag is a Snugpak Antarctica - great bag, doesn't exactly pack down small though!
Peacock/zippo/cheap generic version petrol hand warmers are also very good.
Bob is quite correct that hitting the hip flask in the cold probably isn't the wisest move, but this is the Dragon rally we're talking about here, and there's a lot of heavy drinking going on!
Nice warm hat always good, too!
