Hi John , i may of misunderstood your question !

! the guide of the chain is inside the chaincase but the plastic guide side wall also slots into or on the chaincase outer which can just be seen . Good advice from Peter , do try it without to see if that makes any difference ? Mine has 28+k & still on original chain and sprockets but they do get a liberal oiling every 2nd or 3rd outing , the only failure i have had is the rear sprocket carrier bearing which gives you a clickerty sound which buffers off buildings in enclosed areas being more noticeable but when you have the cases off you can check this also for any free movement .
