all 12v are (cdi) electronic ignition, think you got it wrong way round leiba but you are right about leccy start models needing a fully charged battery for the starter to work but they will still kick start with a flat battery, not sure what year leccy start models started on square headlight models, but there was a leccy start 50 (c102 i think) in the 60s square headlight leccy start bike have an "M" in the model no ie "c90mf" is leccy start "c90f" kick start only. Boo is the man you need to ask, he is a walking encyclopedia on all honda step throughs, i feel sure he will be along later, check out his cub spotters guide at C90club.co.uk under the heading c90 discussion.
