Hi Boo, looks like the side of that piston has been ground off to get the piston off the con rod, looking at the color of the inside of the piston i wuold hazzard at a guess that the engine has been run without oil and over heated seazing the piston onto the gudgeon pin, i have come accross this a few times before over the years, james please let us know if this proves to be the case.
