I just checked my padlock and ir does actually have a rubber seal round the battery compartment, didn't notice it before. Anyway took a photo of it disassembled and the washer I made, The shackle has a cut away section, insert it one way and it is a normal padlock, with the cutout on the same side of the lock it is active.

Like that one Leiba, I am going to get that one as well. Imagine the surprise of a low life thinking he has cut off the alarm with a bolt cutter only to find the bike is still alarmed.
