Hi guys.
One more thing, I am holding off adjusting the valve clearances and timings as the tappet on top of the engine has been chipped and will not be easy to unscrew without a bit of strong banging and cracking.
I have got a replacement tappet which I hope I can change, any suggestions on how to get the old one off without a ratchet, I have some ideas. 
It looks like someone has tried to remove this and adjust the clearances in the past an failed to get the tappet off, so this could be a possible underlying issue in speed and performance.
The ht lead suggestions sounds good to me and I will try it, I must say thank you to all you guys for your sound advice.
