We didn't win but god what a good ride. Big thanks to Nige for handling everything from catering to navigation, my only contribution was bringing a marker pen and staying sober (almost) long enough to mark the maps out the night before.

This was my first time going off-tarmac and I slowed us down a lot with stalling in the ruts, paddling up the broken stone hills, and creeping down the lumpy, slippery descents - except one hill where the rocks were pushing my brake pedal back up and I came past the big bikes yelling I CAN'T STOP

. Nige didn't use his brakes at all and was waiting for five minutes at the bottom of the hill while I thumped and clanged my way down. On some of the worse climbs it was more like ten minutes of waiting, sorry Nige

I don't know how well we placed overall, but the important thing to my reckoning is we've made a stepthrough-shaped dent in the event, maybe it'll bring out a few more 90s for next year
