Wait for the engine to be stone cold, as in overnight, then set the tappets. Take both tappet covers off, take the plug out and take the left hand generator casing off. You take the casing off so you can turn the flywheel by hand to turn the engine over. If you turn the engine over via the fly wheel you will see the valves go up and down. Obviously when one valve is down the other will be up. So get one valve down then adjust the other one. Because of the confined space they are fiddly to adjust. It normally takes me three or four goes on each valve before I'm happy with the gap.Undo the lock nut and back off the adjuster a bit so the feller blade slides in easily. Get the blade as far down its length as possible then start adjusting. I set mine so there is a bit of resistance on the blade, this is with the lock nut tight. The resistance is enough to pull the blade out relatively easy with resistance, but not slack, but tight enough so you are unable to push the blade back in. As I say it's fiddly and will need probably more than one or two attempts. Doing it this way should work, it does for me and I've never suffered a burnt out valve.
Doing this way use the correct size of feeler blade 0.05mm
