the back end of my yellow kawasaki engined 70 is nearly all plates. it was so rusty i had to pulse weld it . i also managed to reinforce the rear rack holes in the mudguard with a 20mmx3mm lenths of bar from about 6" forward , once it was all welded and filled it looks pretty good. must mention, after welding the whole shape was made using fibre glass and then a skim of filler. i always try and seal any body filler from both sides because onece it gets wet from under side it soon looks bad and will probably rust again quickly.
