C90 keeps cutting out

I recently purchased a 1979 c90 it's ran fine for about 10 kilometers an then just starts stuttering and then cuts out. I took it into the mechanics for them to have a look at, they went over all the wiring and ignition, checked the carby and the points etc, and "claimed" they fixed the problem how ever it won't idle. They played with the mixture and idle screws but still nothing. I took the bike home as it was running fine and was just going to sort the idle problem out myself (new idle screw or whole new carby maybe?). I rode the bike around for about 20 minutes and it didn't skip a beat and then again after being in the mechanics for 2 months and 500 dollars down it did the excact same thing, stuttered for a bit then cut out. It seems the the longer I leave it off then then give it a kick the longer it runs, if I try and kick it over straight after it dies it won't start but if I leave it for say 10 minutes and give it a kick then it will run for around 10 seconds. I'm stumped with this problem, any help would be great.
