Wuyang Troubles

My son-in-law phoned me up last night, and to cut the story short,I went over to Burton-On-Trent to pick his Wuyang up from his workplace as the handlebars had come loose from the forks.Put it on my trailer, with the centre-stand down, and bought it back home to fix,he not being very mechanically minded.Sure enough after removing the front centre panel and the two centre spine covers I managed to retighten the nut & bolt which clamps the bars & forks together and also put a locking nut on for good measure. He had mentioned that he thought it had come loose due to engine vibration so I decided to start it up,it was still on my trailer,to check if the vibration was bad.It hadn't been when he first got it.Would it start,no it *******(pick your own swear word)wouldn't.Well I checked as much as I could, plenty of petrol, plug was wet,but no sign of a spark.Spent half an hour checking plug cap and lead, both seem fine.I'll give him a ring and see if it was running ok before the bars/forks problem. He confirms it was running loverly, but wondered if the side stand was down, which operates a safety cutout.I go round the otherside of the bike, where the sidestand is and sure enough its *************************** down.Put it up and it starts first prod, and it's running like the proverbial sewing machine. So he'll have to keep a eye on the steering bolt.Just to finish the story when he bought the bike the sidestand cut-out switch wasn't working as a bolt had fell out.Guess who got it working by replacing the bolt, yes me.DOH
