In general it would be more efficient to use a red LED rather than warm white ie why waste power producing the wide spectrum of white when you only want the red.

Normally a brake light is about 400 lumens. It might be worth checking with the supplier if they can provide red rather than white. 140 lumens red light through a red filter = 140 lumens, 140 lumens white light through a red filter = <140 lumens
