As you said earlier, a white plug would indicate a weak mixture and if you are absolutely sure that there are no air leaks from splits in the air filter rubber elbow, or a poor mating faces on the inlet stub etc,have you experimented with the main jet size? What size main jet do you have? I think it should be an 80,or 85 depending on year.
