Nice post Nut, the superstitious "Gurus" on other site wont be convinced though, much of it come from here say and not actual riding experience. interesting point about the dipstick. I have never had an overheating problem on my zz. It was burning a little oil for the first time in 5yrs at the Rhayader weekend, but I had put some cheap very thin oil in it, 5-30 and I believe it was getting past the valves on overun, since changed the oil and it appears to be running clean.
Oil coolers? well if an engine is continually thrashed on motorways etc and you want to extend the life of the engine it seems logical to add one, but i think many had them fitted because they look impressive and cool.
