Oh ye kind and virtuous Gods, let joy be unconfined!
Squirted starter switch on handlebars and sidestand cutout switch with liberal amounts of 3 in 1 penetrating oil spray last night. This morning the switch works!
So I guess dirty contacts inside the switch. I've flicked and wiggled it lots of times with igntion off now, to try to clean the contact faces against each other.
I am now wondering if spray contact cleaner would also be worth pumping into the switch too......would it help even though the switch is in place on the handlebar and thus not disassembled?
If so I will have to go and forage for a spray can of the stuff. ......
