The bike is a '97 12v that I've had for years.

It's only done about 12k, but obviously I don't know anything about its earlier life.

This morning I eased the throttle off as much as possible, kept down to 40/41.

Already I can see the benefits.

It seems that the last few mph is where all the fuel goes.

It is possible that the valves need attention as the bike does "fluff" slightly when at speed although it hasn't affected top speed and hill climbing seems better than ever.

I need to replace the top end gaskets anyway so for what it costs I may as well do the valves.
