Melted piston...

Hey Neil! Don't know if I mentioned this to you, but I did eventually strip the 'Adventure engine' that did the Jogle and the Elefant!

I bought the engine off a chap in Milton Keynes, who was into Karting or Pit Bikes, I don't remember which. So I was never 100% sure that it's amazing performance wasn't down to something the previous owner did....

Well, I was pleased to say, I don't think the engine had ever been split. Cam & piston were standard, and all gaskets etc looked original. No mushed screws either.

Here's the bit you may be interested in... the leading edge of the piston, closest the ex valve, had been melted away! Not quite down to the ring groove, but there was definite heat errosion taken place!

So maybe on the Jogle my engine wasn't so far behind yours when it came to destroying itself!

ANy way, I put in a C70c piston and rings, and that's the engine I did the 1075 miles in 24 hours on!

Ps. Thank you most kindly for your and Cheri's donation to my cause, The Children's Air Ambulance, it's very much appreciated!
(as were other's I haven't got around to thanking, or were made anonymously...Thanks!)
