The Honda Cub has had it's day.

Events over the past few weeks have got me thinking about the future of the Cub in the UK.
My son has been looking for cheap transport, and I've realised that a Cub is out of the running.
Good ones are just too expensive, and unlike me he doesn't want to spend days or weeks tinkering, he just wants to get on it and ride, and I don't blame him for that.
Anyway I found him a 125 Kymco engined scooter, 8 years old, under 6000 miles, one lady owner, never seen rain, £235.
Imagine if it had been a Cub, it would probably have been in a Bonhams auction.
It's sad that such an icon is becoming a rare sight on our roads, the only time I see Cubs these days is at our gatherings.
No longer imported into the UK, and the ones that are left are so expensive they can hardly be called cheap transport.
It's not surprising really in this throwaway society, buy a scooter, 2 or 3 years down the line throw it away and buy another one.
I suppose it's down to people like us to keep the legend going, unless Honda decide to import the Super Cub into the UK and invest in an advertising campaign, making the Cub the latest 'must have' fashion accessory, I'm afraid the future is bleak.
Or is this just the ramblings of a nostalgic old codger, and no-one realy cares?
