Just do the basics. Check the tappets when the engine is stone cold 0.02mm gap.

I'd strip the carb down and give it a good clean out. remove all the jets and make sure they are not blocked.

Don't forget to clean out the plastic gauze filter in the carb inlet as well. I've also had fuel starvation problems.

I've had to remove the fuel cap before now and blow into the tank to alleviate the problem.
