A couple of points which may help........

The early, carb model, seat WILL NOT fit the later (2005 and up?)injected model.
I know this for a fact, after having got one off ebay to send to a seat re-upholsterer and then on to me, only to find that it wouldn't fit. The base is a slightly different shape, and the lock bracket doesn't line up.

What I was able to do though, was to take the cover off this reupholstered seat, separate the foam from the base, and reassemble all that on my newer seat base.

Bit of a fiddle, but the difference in ride comfort is AWESOME.
The Boss also loves her pillion part of the saddle now too.

The re-upholstery guy had done exactly as I asked him (I sent him drawings and measurements of exactly what I wanted)........ higher, but sifter, foam, and more of a swiss-roll shape, rather than with the forwards sloping cutout bits that on the original seat tipped me forwards.
Total cost was about 70 squids, including courier delivery.

I can highly recommend re-upholstery....if you can find someone locally you might even be able to go in and do some "test-sitting" on your seat once new foam has been added, so the chap can re-profile it to your exact rear before recovering.
