Bowmans right, I have wasted goodness knows how much money on CDI's, even re-wiring to use a DC CDI, and honestly, they are pretty much a complete waste of time. Plug them all in, and bring the engine revs right up to cruising speed and as Boo says, they all advance to pretty much the same point. However as Ventura has pointed out, some don't retard as the revs fall, which is a right pain in the arse as it causes a lumpy tickover and can cause the engine to pink under load at low revs. Scruff runs one of the OO Racing offerings as it seemed to have a smoother advance curve then the Cub90 CDI which is almost a step change. Noodle our race Wuyang (Cub90 engine) runs a standard Cub90 CDI and has taken 3rd, 1st and 2nd places consequetively at Wittering, so they can't be too bad. My advice would be to save your pennies.
Hope this helps
Neil
