Thats interesting Boo, and is what I thought until (by coincidence) last weekend when I was playing about with different CDI's.
I had one exactly the same as the link in the first post, another one that came from a Lifan 110 I'd bought a while ago, and the OEM Honda item that came fitted to my '91 C90.
Using a strobe, the 'race' CDI gave ignition at a couple of degrees past the full advance mark, the Lifan CDI gave a reading just before the full advance mark, and the Honda CDI gave much less advance (roughly equating to 21 degrees BTDC.
Incidentally the Honda item was the only one to give lesser advance at tick over, increasing as revs increased. The other two went straight to their respective full advance position.
As it happens I'm happy with the reduced advance as I'm experimenting with higher CR's at the moment.
The lesser advance has helped avoid overheating and head gasket blowing!!
