I too wondered about Araldite for sealing the holes. Also, what about coating the whole of the outside of the float chamber with epoxy resin? I have successfully done this on various items, though I'm not sure how it might react with modern petrols. (Incidentally, multiple pinprick holes are a very odd thing to occur to a float chamber which is non-ferrous).
