Yes, ag's just alerted me to your post, and the fact that ours are in fact 75 watts. We've used them in 25 litre bins, we've done 4 batches of beer and one of cider with them and they work fine.
I picked up a demi john heater at a booty, but obviously as a demi is only 5 litres it must be really low power, and I've not tried it yet.
ag read that using a too big a heater can cause localised heating and destruction of the yeast locally.
First 3 batches we did with the heaters were outside, so we had lagging around and on the bins.
The rest have been inside, and I've taken to drilling a hole in the lid and suspending the heater in the middle of the brew. As the kitchen floor is tiled I stood them on insulation. (bubble wrap does the job)
