I use one of these. Made 2005-ish. Swivelly screen means you can compose from the ground, above your head etc. Preset settings work well.. "sport" = fastest shutter speed, "landscape" = fixed infinity focus ....etc.. It's probably everything SLR / bridge camera enthusiasts hate! 
Manual focus capability if needed.. Macro does down to 2cm which is handy.
Photography is mostly in the eye of the photographer

Oh.. It fits in your pocket and starts up in a second when you open the screen cause the lens doesn't have to extend out every time it switches on.
