mismatched engine cases

has anyone any experience of building a cub 90 (85cc) using mismatched engine cases?
My 2001 model has a cracked sump (the plug nose got whacked, oops), and I have a spare c70 1/2 case laying around. The other 1/2 of the c70 is a bit too rough to want to use.
I know ideally they should be properly matched, but in practice, is it worth trying?
