Briefly, take your plug out (easier to turn over) remove both tappet covers. Turn engine over slowly on the kick starter by hand. See what the valves are doing ie going up and down. when one valve is down the other will be up. Adjust the one that is up 0.002". Once this is adjusted correctly, which usually takes a couple of goes as the lock nut adjusts the gap again when you tighten it up. Turn the engine over again by hand and the valve you have adjusted is now down adjust the other one which of course is now up.
