Bogger, that really is the strangest thing and makes no sense at all. The only possible reason I can think of is a restriction in the air flow to the carb, eg a blocked or non-standard air cleaner or tight choke cable, but no doubt you have checked all that.
Is the correct main jet really a 105? It would be interesting to know what other CD200 owners use - if you can find any to ask.
I would really like to know the answer to this - do keep us posted.
