Apart from the Robinson Barley Water plastic bottles that Ady uses, and restricting the choices to proper fuel bottles.....
1) Trangia fuel bottles, range from 0.5 to 1 litre, well made, durable and easy to use, cost about 12-13 quid though. Available from lots of camping shops.
2) 2 Litre plastic jerry cans:

They have a nice little spout, that makes it easier to pour the fuel into the tank rather than all over it. Mine has just had the little o'ring fall apart, this seals the spout to the can so doesn't cause it to leak in the top box.
3) MSR or similar ally fuel bottles :

If you try to use a cheepo ally drinks bottle then the gasket and plastic stopper will turn to mush. I have used one with a cork in place of the plastic stopper and that worked well so long as it was kept upright.
Petrol stations are supposed to check that you are using an approved container before turning on the pumps, rarely happens but when it does they get right arsey about it.
