Water ingress, clearly that no-cleaning owt policy is paying dividends.

Vic look for 2RS on the replacement bearing - 2 rubber seals may keep the bearing in good fettle, gawd only knows why you have an open bearing in there.

Of course it also shows a shocking lack of preventative maintenance.
