If you take your frame/chassis number in to Fowler's parts dept and ask them, (or get a price for a part while you're there) they'll look it up on their computer and tell you the age of the bike for free.
Went in to order a part for my 2003 registered C90 and was told the frame number identifies the bike as actually being manufactured in 1996!!! 
Jeez - that's some time they leave them stored up over there, before shipping out.
