A friend of mine found a dead 'road kill' pheasant, so he picked it up and chucked it in the boot of his car. By the time he got home, the not dead but stunned bird had recovered and he spent ten minutes trying to catch it as it flew around his garage. I asked him if he let it go. 'Not likely', he replied. 'I wrung its neck and ate it a few days later!' Nice guy, but loved his game.
