You'd probably have got away with it if you'd managed to hit it with the bike in an upright position. I had a similar thing happen with a dog only I didnt have time to react at all. The first I knew was the thump thump followed by a wtf was that.

Note to self... pay more attention. I once ran over a cat on a push bike too
