They're normally no big problem Leiba. Just don't have both suspension units off at the same time. Are you sure that the ends of the rack aren't just slotted to fit on the suspension studs? If they are, you may be able simply to loosen the top nuts and slide the rack out.
If you do have to remove the suspension unit, make QUITE sure that you replace the large washer under the nut; it prevents the unit from working off!
