I could give my fettlin experience i had the other day while trying to remove the cylinder barrel. it just would not budge and after about hour of banging, levering etc I decided to remove an exhaust stud that looked dodgy only to find that someone in an attempt to re-fit an exhaust stud in the past had drilled a hole right through the cylinder and into one of the four crankcase studs/pins thus the exhaust stud was effectively securing the cylinder to them
I could illustrate with photos etc but in keeping with the mood of the forum I cant be arsed and who cares anyway
