That's a very well considered 'take' on events.

It's always been c90club's aim to go for 'club status' at some point. At which point events will certainly be, 'C90club events' and insurance in place if need be.

In the meantime things aren't so clearly defined, I accept that. And of course much of this 'our ride, your ride' is a legacy of events six years ago and Rhayader. STILL toxic to c90club after all this time.

I fully agree that in an ideal world people will speak out to individuals who's behaviour upsets them. Difficulty being that quite a lot of people are very reserved, shy even, and none of us goes to these meets for confrontation, they're supposed to be fun.

And certainly, there are the serial moaners, and I've found that when you're willing to fire their bullets, there is no shortage of people coming forward to load them!

That said there are a few who think it's their right to do as they like with no respect for the company they are in.

The law is such that if four or five set out and one of them murders someone all can be charged with murder. Simply by association. If you don't believe this have a read. There are many 'innocents' serving life and a judicial revue is likely.

So when people act in a chavvy or yobbish manner others feel they are party to it, don't want to be, and they stay away. And they ARE staying away.

And that brings me back to my very first involvement, the whole point of which was purely and simply to have a friendly chat on the phone with four people, and simply say to them;
"I want to make you aware, that people are staying away from the Duke William campsite, because of the carrying on's there"

No more.

And I sent each my phone details, with an offer to call them back if they drop called me, I didn't want it to be public. Just a quiet and friendly word.

Unfortunately only one person had the decency to speak with me. (Plus another long after)
And one person (not one of the four) chose to escalate events way beyond anything necessary! I'm very glad two full moons in a month is a rare occurrence.

Whether anyone likes it or not, James and I with much help from others, run the c90club.co.uk website.

That brings with it responsibilities and if exercising them means pissing some folk off, tough. There's far too much going on over there to be wasting time with whiners, moaners, or people wanting confrontation, so with great reluctance it's better to cut them loose and move on. For every one cut loose, 1000 will join. And that's the way it is. (I doubt we've dumped 9 people)

For events organised on the c90club forum, there is a set of rules to abide by, hopefully to make the ride easier, safer, and more enjoyable for the people attending. They aren't there for the Hell of it, they serve a purpose. And if people aren't willing to abide by them, they shouldn't attend. simples. Rule number one overriding all others, being 'Obey the rules of the road'.

For my part if I'm attending a ride organised on c90club and I see unsociable behaviour, I have the following tools in my box, and I don't baulk at using them.

Step 1. A quiet word without embarrassing anyone.

Step 2. A not so quiet word.

Step 3. Ask them to leave.

Step 4. Try to resolve matters after the event, using the forum, FB, or by phone.

Step 5. exclude them from the forum & or the FB page.

Step 6. Set Bogger on them.

So there it is, I've set out my stall, and I really don't care what anyone thinks or says about it, it's called 'The way it is' like it or lump it.

Fortunately, so far, only steps 1, 2, and 4 have been necessary.

Yes, there are those think I'm Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Pol Pot, Stalin, all rolled into one.

Tough. I don't care. :D I'm very comfortable in my own skin, and I really don't need 'strokes' from anyone I associate with through motorcycling, so go bang your heads elsewhere. :D

For my part, I'm very unlikely to use the Duke William campsite again. and in the fairly unlikely event I go to Matlock for the ride, I shall find somewhere else to stay.

I certainly won't be phoning Mel to tell him that people are coming, and putting myself up and details as a point of contact, as is usual.

I would in reality like to speak with Mel and disassociate c90club from the campsite / Duke William altogether. However I can't see a way of doing so without alerting him to the goings on, (To which I believe he's oblivious) and I certainly don't want to be the one that gets riders banned from there!

And all this has taken far to much of my time. I need to go to Diss for some motorhome parts.

And what better way,

Than by riding me 90.

:D
