There is some free play on the front (engine) sprocket, So as long as the wheel adjuster marks line up to each side of the wheel/frame then there should not be any issues with chain alignment.
If the chain is the correct tension and the rear wheel is aligned correctly and the chain guard is not touching the chain yet you still get a grinding noise, then it could be a worn axle sleeve spindle or hub bearing that's causing the noise.
