Hi Jack. There are advantages to leaving your C90 standard, mainly to do with reliability. But its not as black and white as some might make it seem. Cheri and I ride a quick Honda C70, we attend the Bimbles, with Cheri as my passenger plus our supplies, and fingers crossed, Scruff never misses a beat (we get the odd puncture though) Scruff is always ridden to Bimbles (never carried)and for the rest of the time serves as my daily transport, come rain snow or shine. So don't be put off by CRAP (Cub Riders Against Progress lol) Burt Munro would be turning in his grave if he heard such comments!
